Cherry Squares

1 cup soft margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 tablespoon lemon extract
2 cups flour
1 28 oz can cherry pie filling
Powdered sugar (for sprinkling on top)


Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Beat margarine and sugar
Add eggs, one at a time
Add lemon extract
Add flour, beat until well blended
Pour into ungreased cookie sheet
Using butter knife, cut batter into 24 sections (4 x 6)
Drop 3-4 cherries on each square
Bake at 350 degress 30-40 minutes
Sprinkle top with powdered sugar while warm
