Herbed Biscuits

2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1 cup milk
1/4 cup mixture of chopped fresh herbs such as basil, parsley, oregano and chives


Preheat oven to 400 degrees and lightly grease a large baking sheet
In medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt
With pastry cutter or fingers, blend the margarine or butter into the flour mixture until the texture resembles a course meal
Blend the milk into the flour, forming a moist dough
Gently need dough for about 30 seconds, adding a little flour if dough is too sticky
Blend in herbs
With a scoop that holds about 2 tablespoons, scoop the dough onto the baking sheet (should be about 10)
Gently press the dough into round balls leaving 2-3 inches between each drop
Place in oven and bake about 12 minutes until crusts are light brown, cool before serving
