Classic Marinated Cucumber Salad

2 medium cucumbers, sliced thinly
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup dry cider
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
3 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
salt and pepper to taste

Heat sugar, cider, and vinegar in saucepan until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

Put cucumber slices in a bowl and pour over cider mixture. Allow to marinate for two hours.

Drain cucumbers and sprinkle with dill and pepper to taste. Mix well and transfer to a serving dish.

Chill until ready to serve.
