Seasoning: 1 cup apple juice or cider, 3 tablespoons butter, 2 teaspoons maple syrup, pinch of allspice, cinnamon, salt and pepper
2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled
Boil potatoes until they are tender enough to pierce with a paring knife, about 12-15 minutes. Drain and allow to cool.
Combine remaining ingredients in saucepan and stir over low heat until butter melts and mixture is third. Continue stirring until mixture is reduced by about a third.
Cut potatoes lengthwise into slices about 1/3 inch thick. Brush grill with oil and place potatoes directly on top in a single layer.
Brush with seasoning and grill, turning and basting often, until they are brown and tender, about 10 minutes.
