Mixed Fruit Crisp

5 cups sliced, peeled apples, pears, peaches or apricots
1-4 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup regular rolled oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, ginger or cinnamon
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1/4 cup chopped nuts


Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Place fruit in 8 inch round baking dish and stir in sugar
In mixing bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour and spices
Cut in margarine until mixture resembles loose crumbs
Stir in nuts
Sprinkle topping over filling
Bake 30-35 or until fruit is tender and topping is golden

Variations:

Blueberry Crisp – Prepare as above except for the filling, combine 4 tablespoons sugar and 3 tablespoons all purpose flour, toss with 5 cups blueberries

Cherry Crisp – Prepare as above except for the filling, combine 1/2 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons all purpose flour, toss with 5 cups fresh, pitted, tart red cherries

Rhubarb Crisp – Prepare as above except for filling combine 1 cup sugar and 3 tablespoon all purpose flour, toss with 5 cups fresh, sliced rhubarb
