Tartine: Tomato Pesto

2 slices thick, crusty bread
3 tablespoons cream cheese
2 tesaspoons red or green pesto
1 large tomato, sliced thinly
1 red onion, sliced thinly
salt and pepper to taste

Toast bread lightly and allow to cool.

Mix cheese and pesto in small bowl until well blended, then spread on toasted bread.

Arrange tomato and onion slices, overlapping, on the toast and season with salt and pepper.

Broil until warmed through.
